In the rolling hills of Nyamagabe, where the soil is rich and the seasons speak in rhythm, one woman stood as a beacon of change. Josephine Uwimana, once a subsistence farmer, now leads a thriving women’s agricultural cooperative that has transformed both the land and lives of those who work it.

Josephine turned the hills into green terraces of hope. Her leadership grew not only crops, but confidence and economic resilience—nurturing self-sufficiency and pride among women who had long been excluded from decision-making and economic opportunity.
